About Theo Halama

All his life, Theo Halama remained faithful to his town in the middle of the Ruhr region. He trained as an electrician – underground, of course – and toiled countless shifts at all the collieries in Bottrop until his retirement. There he found rock now and then, which he proudly displayed in his living room.

In his scant free time – he worked many special and extra shifts – he liked to walk with his mate through the countryside around Bottrop. He kept up this hobby for many years in retirement, too. Together with his wife he often took coach trips in Germany and Austria. Despite some heavy blows of fate, he always led a modest and contented life.

We keep him in our hearts – his granddaughters Insa and Solveig and their mum, Daniela Hagenbruch.

His collection consists mainly of fossils from hard coal and is now part of the Lithothek.
