About Traudl and Hans Osterhammer

Traudl discovered her love for minerals as a teenager while vacationing with her parents in the Zillertal valley. Together with her husband, Hans, she began to develop this shared hobby. Their first collecting site was Altenmittlau in the Spessart region, where they both found beautiful azurite crystals. This led to travels throughout Europe and across the globe—from the Spessart and Bavaria to Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, and many other countries worldwide. While they initially focused on large crystals, their interest gradually shifted toward “micromounts.”

Traudl and Hans made the perfect team: Hans was responsible for collecting the specimens, while Traudl prepared them.

The Lithothek houses a large portion of Traudl’s collection of pseudomorphs, which Hans contributed in 2026.
